Where is going the EPM market? Why we should invest on functional aspects?

Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) is the process of monitoring performance across the enterprise with the goal of improving business performance. An EPM system integrates and analyzes data from many sources, including, but not limited to, e-commerce systems, front-office and back-office applications, data warehouses and external data sources. Advanced EPM systems can support many performance methodologies such as the balanced scorecard, planning sistems and many other solutions.

The EPM market has grown over the last few years expecially in Asia and Middle east countries. Few vendors are sharing the business all over the world and the fight between them is hard, not only because the softwares now are really similar but also because in same cases the companies are too much specialised on IT skills instead of functional skills.

This means that clients sometimes misunderstand the values of a new EPM project.

What we expect for the future? Well, the software vendors and the biggest consultancy company are doing well not only in Europe, but also in USA and in Asia. Asia expecially has seen the start of many big projects and the attention now, of course, is on new customers.

Probably in the next years the attention will be not only on the software or vendor but on the capability to realise a perfect union between the customer's expectation and the ability to solve problem and give answer in terms of cost reduction and process optimization.
Companies should invest more in functional aspects instead on technology.

Here the chart of the main vendors on the EPM market all over the world:
